The University of Virginia Rouse Hall Renovation / McIntire School of Commerce

Chris provided full design estimating services for this complex renovation of Rouse Hall, a Thomas Jefferson designed building on the UVA main quad, and a large addition to form the new home of the McIntire School of Commerce.  A Hartmann Cox Architects design, the Jeffersonian timber structure within Rouse was modified to permit modern uses, and the addition was sited contiguous with Rouse, but the lowest floor of the addition was 40 feet below Rouse. A large cast in place secant wall was used to keep Rouse at the top of the hill.
